Award Notification:  Aja Brown (NY '17)

NY's Newest Milken Educator: Aja Brown

Our team landed in the Bronx on October 16, 2017, to surprise science teacher Aja Brown (NY '17) with a New York Milken Educator Award and $25,000 at New York City's The Metropolitan Soundview High School. Aja's students raised the roof with their applause and chanted her name ("Miss BROWN! Miss BROWN!") as she made her way to the front of the room. "I'm here to make sure my students pass and have a good time doing it," Brown said as she accepted the Award. The science teacher has brought significant resources to her high-needs school, including a $20,000 science lab makeover grant from the Shell Science Lab Challenge.
