January 15, 2025 is a day first grade teacher Jessica Wentz will never forget! At a thrilling assembly at Lincoln Grade School, we surprised her with Illinois’ sole 2024-25 "Oscar of Teaching," with help from Illinois State Superintendent of Education Dr. Tony Sanders.

From Lincoln Grade School student to first grade teacher, Wentz makes learning an adventure—whether it's through "Adjective Runway" fashion shows or "Hulk Smash" math games! With her passion for data-driven teaching and a love for science-based methods, she’s transforming her classroom and supporting fellow educators to ensure every child at Lincoln succeeds. Wentz also serves on multiple committees, mentors new teachers, and stays connected with families to support students at home. Relive some of the highlights from her unforgettable day.
