Erica McCray Joins SC Milken Educators

ROCK HILL, SC—There’s a Riverwalk Academy all-school assembly at Union Baptist Church across the street from the school this morning, with South Carolina Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver making a special visit. It seems like an ordinary day until Superintendent Weaver introduces National Institute for Excellence in Teaching Chief Executive Officer Dr. Joshua Barnett, representing the Milken Family Foundation. Watch as Dr. Barnett names Principal Erica McCray a 2025-26 Milken Educator Award recipient and presents her with a huge $25,000 check. It's the surprise of a lifetime for McCray!
