Social studies teacher Kevin Witte kept his wits about him even when surprised with the $25,000 Milken Educator Award by Nebraska’s top brass—Governor Dave Heineman, First Lady Sally Ganem, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Scott Swisher, and Milken Family Foundation Senior VP Dr. Jane Foley. Kevin’s message for students? “Whatever it is that they’re interested in, go after it with all the energy that they have. That’s where the adventure is; that’s where the fulfillment is.”
