Masaru Uchino Named HI Milken Educator

Masaru Uchino (HI '16)   |   Momilani Elementary  |  Pearl City, HI  |  Feb 02, 2017

Congratulations, Momilani Elementary—you’re a Blue Ribbon School! Hawaii Governor David Y. Ige and First Lady Dawn Amano-Ige are here to celebrate the school's accomplishments, along with Hawaii State Superintendent Kathryn Matayoshi and Complex Area Superintendent Rodney Luke. But there's another reason for the all-school assembly, which comes to light when Milken Family Foundation Chairman and Co-Founder Lowell Milken surprises third-grade teacher Masaru Uchino with a 2016-17 Milken Educator Award and $25,000. Click through our photo gallery to follow Uchino's career-changing day.
