MA Principal Dr. Allan Cameron Earns Milken Educator Award for Leading Deerfield to Excellence

Surprise! Principal Allan Cameron of Deerfield Elementary in Westwood, MA, ended up planning his own party when he was presented with a $25,000 Milken Educator Award during an all-school assembly. On hand to congratulate him was Milken Educator Awards Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Foley and Massachusetts Education Commissioner Mitchell D. Chester -- who presented Allan with the distinguished honor. For three years running, Deerfield student achievement scores ranked tops in Massachusetts for grades 3 and 5. "I will use this [award] as a motivator to keep working hard and striving for excellence," Allan said. In the manner of a true leader, Allan recognized the contributions of his staff and students. "I share this with all of you."
