Dr. Jane Foley (IN '94), senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, leads a discussion on how to engage state leadership to collaborate on elevating the education profession. "Invite your legislators to visit schools to see your programs, and be there for public comment," advises Dr. Yvonne Chan (CA '91). Dr. Mike Nelson (ID '05) notes that growing Idaho's Milken Educator Network provides the opportunity to inspire people to join and strengthen the state's teaching corps: "It's about giving people the opportunity to see themselves growing in our state" rather than moving elsewhere to pursue their careers.
