Iowa Educator Grant Hegstad Receives Surprise $25,000 Milken Award

ORANGE CITY, IA—What's happening at MOC-Floyd Valley High School? Students and staff are convened for a schoolwide assembly when a surprise guest makes it clear that the gathering is not what it seems. With Iowa Department of Education Director McKenzie Snow and MOC-Floyd Valley Community School District Superintendent Russ Adams (IA '03) in attendance, Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, takes the microphone and surprises Assistant Principal and Extended Career Experiences (ECE) Coordinator Grant Hegstad with Iowa's sole 2023-24 Milken Educator Award — and $25,000 cash prize.
