CT Has a New Milken Educator ... Manuel Zaldivar!

 

 

After the applause dies down, Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, asks Award recipient Manny Zaldivar what he means when he tells students, "This is hard, but you can do it!" Replies Zaldivar: "When something is hard, you just have to try and never give up." Zaldivar uses his own experience to inform his teaching. At 18, he came to the U.S. from Honduras, speaking not a word of English. His aunt told him that he could do it and has motivated him to succeed and help other English language learners.
