Second-grade teacher Michael Baum goes to great lengths to reach each and every student in his classroom, despite challenges, such as a concentration of economically disadvantaged and transient students. He leads multiple learning centers and facilitates small group learning to accommodate individual needs. Michael demonstrates that he cares about the welfare of his students, both in and out of the classroom. For example, he routinely volunteers to walk students home from school to ensure they arrive safely.
