Biographical Information

Since receiving the Milken Educator Award in 2003, Ross Sward has served as an assistant principal at Bacon Academy in Colchester, CT, and is currently a House Principal at The Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT. Entering his 27th year in education, Sward continues to work with teachers and students in an effort to maximize student learning through innovative and creative classroom approaches. Sward currently works collaboratively with a team of teachers in a tenth-grade unit that supports and challenges students to become critical thinkers. Focusing on time management skills, study skills, use of technology, and literacy strategies, the team works to individualize each student's experience. Additionally, Sward is active in the CT Association of Schools and serves on the Principal Center's Technology Committee, State Wrestling Committee, CAS Mentor/Mentee Program and the CT Student Activities Committee.
