January 8, 2025 is a day seventh through twelfth grade music teacher Meredith Reid will never forget! At a thrilling assembly at Girard High School, we surprised her with Kansas’ sole 2024-25 "Oscar of Teaching," with help from Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson.

Reid is a dynamic force in choral music education, reviving and leading Girard High School's award-winning choir to new heights. With numerous regional and state accolades, Reid is shaping the future of music in her community.
