Kingsland Elementary is a Blue Ribbon School, and dignitaries including Arkansas Commissioner of Education Johnny Key and U.S. Senator John Boozman are visiting to commend students and staff. But the assembly also includes a special guest from California ... and a big honor for one outstanding educator! When Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, surprises second-grade teacher Tasha Wilson with a Milken Educator Award and $25,000, the day quickly becomes one Wilson will never forget.

  • Congrats, Tasha! It is a moment that you and your students will never forget. Enjoy the ride and remember how you felt the instant your name was called (Heart racing, legs trembling, thoughts rumbling through your head). It is always good to do your best no matter what because little lives depend on educators like you, and they are truly our future. Thank you for giving so much to the students in our state. Sincerely, Tracy Valentine (2010 Milken Educator, Bragg Elementary).
