Jennie Schmaltz Wins CO Milken Award

It's a big day at Elkhart Elementary School: Dr. Colleen O'Neil, an executive director of the Colorado Department of Education, and Aurora Public Schools Superintendent Rico Munn are visiting to celebrate the school's impressive achievements in reading and math. But there's another reason for their visit, too. When Lowell Milken, chairman and co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, presents Jennie Schmaltz with a Colorado Milken Educator Award, the third-grade teacher receives the surprise of her career.
