Emily Dickerson Wins TX Milken Award

 

 

Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath praises Grand Prairie High School on its many exceptional accomplishments. The school is a National AVID demo campus and is helping high schools across the country close the opportunity gap and prepare students for college and careers. This year, he notes, the class of 2022 has seven Dell Scholars semifinalists and four Presidential Scholars headed to the University of Texas at Arlington, with more than $4 million awarded in scholarships to date. 

Then, changing direction, Commissioner Morath introduces a special guest from California—an international businessman and philanthropist who has spent decades working to improve public education and create opportunities for young people.
