Colin DeGroot Wins New Mexico's Milken Educator Award

Science teacher Colin DeGroot and Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, visit with students in DeGroot's classroom after his surprise Award notification. The school held the first classes in its brand-new building earlier in the week. In DeGroot's hands-on classes, students have built roller coasters, a rocket, a wind farm, carbon-dioxide-powered cars, and a greenhouse that provided food for 40 people. Their next project: a solar power system on the school grounds.
