Robert Wallace (RI '91) passed away on November 25, 2025, at the age of 87. At the time of his Milken Educator Award, Wallace was principal at Joseph L. McCourt Middle School in Cumberland, Rhode Island. A devoted educator and respected leader, Wallace dedicated more than three decades to public education in Rhode Island. Over the course of his 35-year career in the town of Cumberland, he served students and families as a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent. He later continued his service as interim principal and superintendent at Capt. Isaac Paine Elementary School in Foster for five years.
Wallace was deeply committed to his community, youth athletics, and faith. He was president of the Pawtucket Fairlawn Little League, a member of the R.I. Middle School Principals Association, and president of the R.I. Middle School Interscholastic League. In 2008, he was inducted into the Central Falls High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and remained an active leader in his church throughout his life. He is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose enduring legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. He is survived by three sons, including Andrew S. Wallace (RI '05), who is also a Milken Educator.
