Brock Ridge (NC ’95) passed away on July 11, 2023, at 85 years old. At the time of his Milken Award, Brock was the principal of Richlands High School, where he served for 23 years.

Brock was a graduate of East Carolina University and began his career as an educator in 1962. He taught seventh grade U.S. history and high school industrial arts, along with coaching both athletics and debate. Brock moved into school leadership as a guidance counselor and worked as an assistant principal before taking over as principal of Richlands High School in 1973.

In addition to receiving the Milken Award, Brock was a three-time Onslow County Schools Principal of the Year. He was also named the R.J. Reynolds Tech Prep Outstanding State Principal of the Year. After retirement, Ridge went on to serve 16 years on the Onslow Board of Education until 2018. Altogether, he served the children of Onslow County’s for 56 years.
