January 8, 2026 is a day Mountain Vista Community School sixth grade math teacher Shana Engel will never forget! At an exciting assembly, we surprised her with a 2025-26 Milken Educator Award and $25,000.

Engel is a math powerhouse at Mountain Vista Community School who truly has the "magic touch" for inspiring students through data-driven and project-based learning. She serves as a vital leader and mentor in the district, dedicated to teacher development and innovative math reasoning. Whether she’s leading the robotics club or being chosen by students for "teacher takeover day," Engel’s passion for education creates a lasting impact across her entire school community
