“Teaching is part of what I am. It’s what I do,” declares fourth-grade Fort Pierce, Florida, teacher Nardi Routten. Nardi was surprised with the prestigious Milken Educator Award—and the accompanying $25,000 cash prize—at Frances K. Sweet Elementary School, where she’s making significant strides in improving student learning.
