WI Teacher Josie Guiney Igielski Receives “Incredible” Milken Honor

For Josie Guiney Igielski, a fourth grade teacher and out-of-the-box thinker at Lincoln Elementary School in Madison, Wisconsin, the assembly on October 29 was anything but ordinary. State Superintendent Dr. Tony Evers and Milken Educator Awards’ Dr. Jane Foley had a big surprise in store: the presentation of a $25,000 Milken Educator Award in recognition of Josie’s excellence in education. But that wasn’t all; Josie was also welcomed into the national Milken Educator Network, through which she could tap into the extraordinary expertise of her fellow award-winning educators for years to come. Watch Josie’s reaction and learn what makes her a role model for the state and nation.

  • Congratulations Josie on your Milken award! What a humbling experience I'm sure it was for you. I just received the Milken last week, and I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it all. Welcome to what appears to be an incredible network of educators! Looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for you!
