Teacher Zsuzsanna Diamond Shines as New Arkansas Milken Educator for 2012
Little Rock fourth-grade teacher Zsuzsanna Diamond was stunned when Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe called her name as Arkansas's 2012 Milken Educator Award recipient at an all-school assembly at Otter Creek Elementary. National Institute for Excellence in Teaching President and CEO Dr. Gary Stark -– an AR Milken Educator himself -– joined in the celebration. Among her many accomplishments, Zsuzsanna was awarded for helping her students surpass district averages in math and literacy. Zsuzsanna’s students hang onto her every word, which had particularly significant meaning today. Describing the objective on her resume by an unknown author, Zsuzsanna emphasized that "100 years from now it will not matter what house I lived in, what kind of car I drove or what my bank account was," she said. "But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child."
