Jane Foley gives Lafferty award

Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, congratulates physics teacher Ryan Lafferty on receiving Washington state's 2015-16 Award and hands him his blue Award envelope embossed with his name. Lafferty has developed a problem-based curriculum for International School's AP Physics class in which students have built Roman arches, projectile instruments such as slingshots and catapults, and a single-string instrument called a Diddley bow. He is among a team working with the Bellevue School District, the University of Washington and the George Lucas Educational Foundation on a curriculum that he hopes to be implemented nationally.
