Flanked by Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael A. Grego, wife and fellow teacher Kelly Hefty, and their son Cameron, a first-grader at Jamerson, science and math coordinator Lukas Hefty accepts Florida's 2016-17 Milken Educator Award. Under Hefty’s STEM leadership, students at Jamerson are flourishing: In 2015, 81% of fifth-grade students achieved a level 3 or higher on the science FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test), up from 48% in 2011.
