Biographical Information

Dewey is the NAEP State Coordinator in the Hawaii Department of Education and currently serves on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Board of Directors. He previously served as Hawaii’s Educational Specialist for Mathematics for 10 years, providing leadership for mathematics curriculum, instruction and assessment. Previously he was a high school mathematics teacher for 14 years (3 in Ohio and 11 in Hawaii) and served as a district-level mathematics resource teacher for 4 years. Dewey is a National Board Certified Teacher and a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and the Milken Educator Award. Dewey is owned by 2 exceptionally cute Tibetan Spaniels.
