Rebecca Duda (MA ’09) Honored at Local Heroes Dinner

January 1, 2011

Rebecca Duda (MA ’09) was honored at the 17th Annual Local Heroes Dinner of the Greater Merrimack Valley in Dracut, MA. Community Teamwork, Inc., a private, nonprofit community action agency, presented the award to Duda, who was honored for “stretching the boundaries of creative education through community service by integrating her efforts to restore the long-forgotten Claypit Cemetery along Pawtucket Boulevard with her students’ eagerness to conduct their own primary research.” By using census records, vital records and a variety of resources from the Dracut Historical Society, her class uncovered the unique history of those buried at the cemetery and restored the physical site to its former condition.
