The Horace Mann League of the USA recognized Dr. Manuel Valenzuela (AZ '98) as the first Champion of Public Education for his “unwavering commitment and tireless advocacy for the advancement of public education,” according to the league. The League commended Dr. Valenzuela (AZ '98) for being known for championing equitable education for all, creating inclusive learning environments, and continuously empowering educators to inspire the next generation of leaders. His efforts align with the values upheld by the Horace Mann League to provide access to an equitable education for all people. The League took notice of Dr. Valenzuela (AZ '98) for a commentary he wrote, “How Do You Size Up Public Education,” published in the Green Valley News in April 2024, which further reflects his passion for creating supportive learning environments where every child can thrive.
