Ronald β€œRon” W. Anderson (IL ’92) passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at the age of 86. At the time of his Milken Educator Award, Anderson was principal at Harrison Street Elementary School in Illinois, where he created a learning environment full of care for his colleagues and students. Anderson also led Sixth Street School and Fourth Street School as principal. He oversaw special education for the Geneva School District, championing inclusive practices. Anderson began his career in Naperville, Illinois, and devoted decades to education, earning the respect of colleagues and families for his steady leadership, generosity of spirit, and commitment to student success.

Anderson is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathy; three children; nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Known for his kindness, wisdom, and gift for storytelling, Anderson touched countless lives throughout his career and community, and his legacy endures in the many students, educators, and loved ones who were better for having known him.
