Jeanie (Padron) Weve (KS '10) died November 6, 2011. She received her Milken Educator Award for her work with fourth graders at Maize Central Elementary School, where it was said she inspired "her students to learn through the power of creative and physical activity."

  • Jeanie and I had a unique bond. While we were at the awards ceremony weekend, we were paired up and asked to talk about our most inspiring teacher. I shared with her info about my favorite teacher, and she started laughing! Then she started to explain. She started to talk about her most memorable teacher. We were both talking about the same man, Mr. Bill Uselton from Choctaw High School, in Choctaw, OK. We had each been awarded the Milken from different states the same year, and found out we were from the same small town in Oklahoma. Just in a brief encounter, she touched my life and reminded me how much we impact students.
