Bernadette George (PA ’94) passed away on May 19, 2026, at the age of 81. At the time of her Milken Educator Award, she was the principal of Delcroft Elementary School, where she championed innovative programs that supported students and families. Born in Philadelphia, George was known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and dedication to education. During her tenure, she implemented childcare and pioneered a free-and-reduced-price breakfast program. She also worked to strengthen academics and create a school rich with hands-on learning experiences, proven essential to student success.

George visited six continents throughout her lifetime, including Antarctica. She is survived by her siblings, Alexis Hemingway, Roberta George, and Alexander George (Karen), and was the beloved aunt of four nieces and nephews. George leaves behind a legacy of compassionate leadership, service, and educational excellence.
