At her surprise notification in 2005, newly minted Milken Educator Tammy Holbert Wells (WV '05, center), the principal of Valley High School in Pine Grove, West Virginia, gets a hand with her oversized Milken Educator Award check from Dr. Steven Paine (WV '95), West Virginia's state superintendent of schools, and Dr. Jane Foley (IN '94), senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards.
