Deming's Magali Gomez Receives New Mexico Milken Educator Award

 

Back in the classroom, Magali Gomez dives right back into a lesson with her fifth graders. She embraces innovative practices, always putting students’ needs first and encouraging them to own their academic progress, try new things, think creatively and critically, and embrace a growth mindset. She expertly weaves project-based learning (PBL) throughout her curriculum to foster student cooperation and spark creativity. Her students' first PBL project this year was to create their "ideal learning environment," and the class developed an outdoor classroom space for science and other related subjects.
