Lisa Richard Wins OR's Milken Educator Award

 

Hands up! Back in the classroom, Milken Award recipient Lisa Richard and Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, talk with Richard's third-graders about what they are learning that they will remember forever. Said one student: "I will always remember the day my teacher got the Milky Way award."

Richard creates extraordinary learning opportunities for her students, both in and out of the classroom. Once a year she brings students together with residents of a local veterans’ home; students serve the veterans dinner and present projects about the wars in which the veterans have served, and the residents share their war stories with the students.
