Lindsay Frevert Is a New Jersey Milken Educator

The students and staff at Van Derveer Elementary School are dressed in their school colors and eager to meet the day's special guests, including Kimberley Harrington, acting commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Education, and Somerville Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Timothy J. Purnell. Harrington talks about the importance of a good education, but the assembly takes an unexpected turn when Harrington introduces Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, who surprises second-grade teacher Lindsay Frevert with the district's first Milken Educator Award and $25,000.
