Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, explains that the teacher who is about to receive the Award will also get a cash prize. But how much? Students hold up cards representing the amount of the Award, one digit at a time. When California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson holds up the final zero, the total is revealed: $25,000!
