A visit by the Department of Education at a schoolwide assembly turns into a day to remember for Blue Valley Northwest High School teacher Bill Smithyman as he receives the 2015-16 Kansas Milken Educator Award from Milken Family Foundation Chairman and Co-Founder Lowell Milken. Follow along as students, faculty and visiting dignitaries give Smithyman a standing ovation in front of Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson and Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach.
