Alison Ter Horst (SD '19)   |   Washington High School  |  Sioux Falls, SD  |  Oct 16, 2019

Good morning, Sioux Falls! Washington High School is welcoming South Dakota Secretary of Education Ben Jones for a conversation about civics education. But is there another reason for the schoolwide event? When Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, names psychology teacher Alison Ter Horst the state's 2019-20 Milken Educator, the whole assembly is in shock. Welcome to the family!

  • Congratulations! Isn’t it amazing to get to choose a profession because you want more than anything to love and teach students individually and collectively? To be a part of leading others to love learning and to help build a never- quenched love of learning is absolutely awesome, isn’t it? But then to be recognized as part of a team and a school and a school system that regards discovery and learning which has helped you to be the teacher you are is surreal! So happy to hear you are now a part of the
wonderful and incredibly generous Milken family!
