With Milken Educator Awards Vice President Stephanie Bishop standing beside her, second grade teacher Vanessa Thomson takes the microphone to share some thoughts with the students, colleagues, dignitaries and media who just witnessed her Milken Award surprise. "I'm the person I am because of all the people here, and because of my own teachers," she says. "Teachers don't get enough recognition, so this feels really nice."
