Biographical Information

Rayna is currently the principal of M.A. Lynch Elementary School. Her team is one of a kind! Hard working, professional and laser focused on developing the whole child.  M.A. Lynch is the highest poverty school in the town and has students with diverse needs. The school's mission and vision for the school is to Empower ALL to learn, grow and succeed. The staff incorporates trauma informed practices and in all that they do.

At John Tuck Elementary School in Redmond, as a fifth-grade teacher, Rayna Lee Nordstrom promoted learning through creative, hands-on activities.  Each year during "Space Week," she transformed the gym into TASA (Tuck Aeronautics and Space Administration) and had students put on space suits, build a model of a space shuttle, and simulate a mission into space.  Mrs. Nordstrom's students used the Internet to study and track Alaska's Iditarod dogsled race and learn about the life cycle of salmon by growing fish from eggs to fingerlings.  As a result, more students met or exceeded state science benchmarks at Tuck than at any other school in the district.  As a master teacher in the Intel Teach to the Future Program, she trained teachers to integrate technology into their curricula.  In 2001, Mrs. Nordstrom received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Math Teaching.
