Biographical Information

"A good teacher will work hard to get the best each student has to offer," says Nadyne Aikman, who teaches language arts and social studies to fifth graders at Moody Elementary School in White Hall. Mrs. Aikman is one of the founders of TASC (Teachers of Arkansas Studies Council), a network dedicated to improving the teaching of the history of Arkansas. The two workbooks she has written, the numerous workshops she has conducted as well as the course content guides and lesson plans she has developed have all served to further and reinforce the teaching of the state's history throughout its school system. Arkansas Heritage Week, a yearly celebration held by the school, provides a forum for public figures and artists to visit the school. The fifth grade production of "A Salute to Arkansas," a play written by Mrs. Aikman, is the culminating event of the week's festivities.
