Biographical Information

Melody Boyd uses a wide array of instructional practices with her seventh-grade language arts and math classes at Roosevelt Middle School in Springfield. She collaborates with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units and conducts action research on a new literacy framework that supports the social studies curriculum. Currently she is organizing a language arts course, the "Great American Project," that focuses on America, Ohio and Springfield history while promoting pride and tolerance. In Ms. Boyd's "Conflict Creates Choices" workshop for students with disciplinary problems, students and their parents explore the root causes of conflict, learning conflict resolution skills that will provide an option to violence. Ms. Boyd is Board Certified and chairs the language arts department, while also serving on the district’s Language Arts Leadership Team and mentoring an education student.
