At Central High School West Campus in Tuscaloosa, computer applications teacher and department chair Katherine Adams is committed to preparing her students for the competitive business environment of the 21st century. Her comprehensive technology curriculum fosters a climate of professionalism and achievement through real-world activities such as participation in Future Business Leaders of America programs, mock interviews and guest speeches from community and business leaders. Active in community service through a variety of local business and social organizations, Ms. Adams teaches business and employment-related skills to adult members of the community as well. In her capacity as a goodwill ambassador for the city of Tuscaloosa, Ms. Adams has hosted foreign guests and visited Narashino, Tuscaloosa's sister city in Japan, to learn about Japanese culture and educational practices.
