Dr. Saltzman retired as the principal at Broadmoor Elementary in Colorado Springs in 2006 after 16 years as its leader. She had a total of 32 years in public education. Since her retirement she has taught classes at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs and worked as an independent consultant with the educational research firm, Rockman, et al., and with Mike Galvin, the principal at Focused Leadership Solutions. She served as a site professor for student teachers from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Dr. Saltzman published her memoir "Radical Survivor: One Woman's Path Through Life, Love, and Uncharted Tragedy" in 2012, a story about the loss of her husband and two sons in a small plane crash while serving as a principal in Colorado Springs. The bestselling book was rated #1 in Death, Grief, and Loss on Amazon. Saltzman presently serves on the leadership team for Soaring Spirits International, a non-profit that serves widowed people worldwide and continues her work as a motivational speaker. An Indiana Hoosier who now calls Colorado her home, Saltzman is likely to be found most mornings hiking in the Colorado Springs foothills with her two dogs, Finn and Teddy. She enjoys reading, taking pictures, keeping in touch with family and friends, and laughing with her husband of 6 years, Greg Roman.
