Biographical Information

After receiving his MEA in 2003, Alex left the classroom to enter the world of school administration. After seven years as a high school principal, and one as the Chief Academic Officer of the New Global Academy, Alex served as the Superintendent for Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1 in southwestern Colorado. In 2016, Alex is spending his time accelerating educational improvement and innovation all across Colorado as a member of the team at the Colorado Education Initiative. Alex has published several articles in Principal Leadership and has co-authored two books with his writing partner, Tim Healey. These books are The Insider's Guide to High School: A Parent's Handbook for the Ninth Grade Year and The Insider's Guide for Students: A Handbook for the Ninth Grade Year.


Personal Message

I continue to be very excited to work with such amazingly esteemed and accomplished educators. I hope that we can further the aims of all great educators, and hope to work tirelessly to ensure that every child who enters our schools is supported with the world- class instruction that they deserve.
