Ashtown, Ark. principal Dr. L.F. Henderson (AR '94), who was known for making his school an integral part of his town's community, died March 12, 2012. He received his Milken Educator Award, in part, because of his success with computer-assisted education like his Electronic Bookshelf Reading Program, which permitted students who had read more than a 100 books in a year to serve as Principal-for-a-Day. A year after Henderson received his Milken Award, the school board renamed his school after him.
