Lowell Milken, chairman and co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, tells the assembly that he believes educators have the most important job in our country, yet "one thing we don’t do well enough in this country is recognize quality teachers and greatness in education." Milken created the Milken Educator Awards in 1987 to change that, bringing national recognition and cash prizes to outstanding educators around the U.S.
