Buffalo Public School District Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash (left) congratulates special education teacher Andrew Franz on his Milken Educator Award. Franz is one of western New York’s biggest advocates for STEM education. As the lead educator on the Student Spaceflight Experiment Project for seventh- and eighth-graders, Franz helped students examine the effects of microgravity and space travel in an experiment on potato farming that traveled to the International Space Station on the Falcon 9 Rocket in February 2017.
