The teacher who is about to win the Milken Educator Award also gets a cash prize. To reveal the amount of the Award, students hold up cards with numbers on them, one at a time. When Vicky Condalary (LA '01), a veteran Milken Educator and the LA BOLD executive director for the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching, shows the audience the third zero, there's an audible gasp: $25,000 is a lot of money!
