Bill Smithyman Wins Kansas 2015-16 Milken Educator Award

Students cheer for Milken Educator Award winner Bill Smithyman, a tough but beloved English teacher at Blue Valley Northwest High School. Cooper Trusdale, Blue Valley's student body president, tells radio network WIDW that he didn't get good grades when he first landed in Smithyman's class freshman year, but the teacher met with him individually and helped him improve his writing. "Everything he does on a daily basis, you can tell it’s for the students."
