The shock of being named one of the top educators in America and presented a $25,000 prize in front of your colleagues, the entire student body, special guests and the media can bring up a lot of emotions. Fortunately for Milken Educator Award recipients like Marielle Emet, everyone in attendance—including Commissioner of Education Deborah Gist—is only too happy to both comfort and share in this incredible moment.
